Re: RIP Rob Jansen (rjansen77)
Today marks a somber anniversary - 10 years since we tragically lost Rob Jansen. This day will always be personally filled with a broad range of mixed emotions. Despite being a weekday, a few of us were able to take off work to commemorate the day in a place Rob loved - Colorado’s alpine. Ben, Ryan, Jeff, and I spent the day on Wheeler Peak with a prolonged stay at the summit where we shared memories and one of the Dale’s branded in Rob’s memory 10 years ago.

Peter Aitchison on the risks of rock climbing and mountaineering: "That's life, isn't it? We think the challenge and satisfaction you get from doing this is worth the risks."
"Respect the mountain. Train hard. Hope you can sneak up when it isn't looking."
"The mind is always worried about consequences, but the heart knows no fear. The heart just does what it wants."

Well done guys. RIP Rob. Hard to believe it has been 10 years. It is nice to see you guys together, and smiling, in the mountains. Maybe I will get to see you one day...

Fisching, I applaud you for posting this. Rob seemed like a great guy, after a close call myself it’s easy to forget how dangerous the mountains can be. RIP Rob Jansen

Re: RIP Rob Jansen (rjansen77)
Great to see this!
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal
