Looks like he's trying to bust out of your yard!

Jack the Wonder Dog on Mt. Edwards posing for the camera.
Jack has hiked over 35 peaks with me. He's done 31 Centennial Peaks, 1 14er ( Missouri ), 3 state high points and many smaller sub-alpine peaks and buttes. He's always ready to go for a hike. He's a Siberian Husky. He just keeps going and going. I have to admit that he's the best dog I've ever had.
Namaste
Sue
PS I love the pictures of all of those Huskies posted by harrise. Looks like a case of MHS ( Multiple Husky Syndrome )! I should know. I have 2 Huskies myself but my girl Maia does not do well off leash. Also she has had operations on both hind legs.

Re: The 14er.com dogs
I LOVE This thread! Much needed after the angst of the Missy thread. I have been lucky to have several excellent partners with me, starting with my Sophie, my lab/golden mix. She was such a sweetheart that when friends had 'no pets' parties, she was always invited. Next was Shadow, who we adopted at age 10 with a heart defect and laryngeal paralysis. She was not supposed to swim or hike at elevation. Hmm. Tell HER that! Then came Lily, still with me, and my main hiking companion these days. She is supposedly German Wirehair Pointer Mix. She has STAMINA, and not one mean bone in her body. She is all about fun-with dogs, cats, people..she cannot get enough. I can't recall all the summits we have together but it's lots of the 'ers: 10ers to 14ers. She loves backpacking and regular old hiking, too. But no swimming for her! Just splashing and running through it. Then..drum roll please...the Little Guy came into my life and it will never be the same: Chuy! 18 months old, 6.6 lbs, will never see a 14er summit, chihuahua/rat terrier mix, I believe. He is pure delight and my friends fight over wtaching him the weekends I am away.He only knows labs and his sister Lily, so he acts like them and jumps in mountain lakes to get sticks, crosses log bridges over cold creeks, and hikes across snowy drifts. I cannot end this without mentioning Berkeley-not 'mine', but my girl on many occasions. She was a stray chow-mix pup that came into my and my brother Bill's life about 10 years ago. I had the pleasure of taking her on many backpacking trips and hikes, and that dog was the best scrambler and route-finder I have ever seen. If I was questioning my choice of route, I would look at her, tell her to 'go', and she would pick the best line every time. I miss that sweet girl. Here are my pics. Thanks for sharing all of yours~

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'd like to introduce you to Floyd. His likes include strolls along the Continental Divide, rolling in feces, and meal time. Turnoffs include being stuck in the backyard, anything vegatable, and class 3 mountains.
For years he was my avatar and at the Spring 2010 gathering on Sherman I had several people come up to me saying, "So he's Floyd, but who are you?"

We have 3 pugs who are and endless source of entertainment and who love nothing more than to snuggle up with mom and dad :D

Viewing these great pictures and reading the owner's comments was a perfect end for my day. Looking forward to more of the same.

Re: The 14er.com dogs
This thread finally has my wife excited about hiking!!!
now I just need a dog that has an IQ above 7... (we have worlds dumbest Wheaten Terrier, 8 years and he still looks at me like an idiot when I say "sit" despite 3 years of obedience school).

Huron Peak - Sept 2011
Mariah - Mini Aussie (11 yrs old)
Brisco - Border Collie (7 yrs old)
Trek - Border Collie (18 mos old)
All great mountain hikers and we're good owners and don't let them chase wildlife or bug other hikers!
Trek even won a photo contest in the Broomfielder magazine with one of his solo shots from Huron. Lindsey
