I really hope that I'm missing something in the web forum timing here because if not, that poor pup has been up there for seven days!

I just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. Are you saying that you saw this exact dog last Sunday on Sawtooth?

Seems quite clear that's what he's saying, although it seems like hit-or-miss to tell that from a picture.

(I'm not sure what happened to my post so forgive me if this shows up twice:)

I am 95% sure it is the same dog. I was only about 5-10 feet away from it when I passed the two guys with it, and the pup was panting miserably and wasn't having a good time. It had a red (I think) harness on, which the guys were using to haul it down the mountain. It was apparent that they were hopeless.

After I passed them, I moved on down - near the "bottom" of the climb - and they were trying to follow me. I tried to point them in more "dog-friendly" routes, but it quickly became apparent that there was nothing dog-friendly about that climb. I lost track of them and later overheard someone say "I think I'm (we are) going to bail". Don't know who it was exactly, but I was really hoping it was those two with the dog...

I feel like I should be talking to some "authorities" about this, but it could all be some miserable misunderstanding...

Unfortunately Mrs Jack doesn't recall much detail.

Can anyone corroborate this?

I really hope not...

And to the Rescue Team tomorrow morning, if I didn't have work, I would be there in a heartbeat. I will keep your safety in my prayers. Please let us know as soon as you all are back!
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

I didn't go back to your previous posts for what you wrote.

But, I don't think you need to apologize. It was the OP first post and dogs are a love/hate/indifferent subject on this forum. Caution is warranted on the net.

It was smart to call the telephone number.

Hi everyone. We have a team of seven confirmed for tomorrow and a few maybes. I think we have enough to physically move the dog if we find her but more help would be appreciated. I have a feeling that finding the dog will be just as challenging as getting her out.

Again, we will be meeting at the Guanella Pass Trailhead at 5am, Monday August 13th. I drive a silver Pontiac Vibe with a roof/cargo rack on top so you can spot me.

For those coming, bring any evacuation option that you have at your disposal and we will evaluate our best options at the trailhead before we head out.

If anyone has the following please bring them: a GPS device, walkie-talkies.

Thank you everyone for your help and advice.

I would also like to thank the group which went out last evening to look for this dog and Erik2 for his efforts today and detailed report, which has been extremely helpful.
