Left Hand Canyon Drive

Postby Exoskeletron » Mon Sep 30, 2013 7:52 am

So I went hiking this weekend with a friend and we wanted to go to Brainard Lakes. We knew the road would probably be closed, and it was, but we got to see some of the devastation in that area for the first time since the flooding. Pretty sad how some homes are just ruined or the basement has been washed right out from under them. I was surprised by how quickly the clean-up seems to be going though. Anyway, I don't want to sound lazy, but I'm trying to think of some great places to hike that are near Boulder/Denver, that are still accessible. Any suggestions by people who know what areas are closed? I'm hoping to hike several times in the next few weeks before it gets cold, and I want to avoid wasting time driving down roads that are blocked off at the end.

For the Front Range, I'd recommend Deer Creek Canyon. It's pretty much unscathed and a cool place to hike.
