The fire is up to 20,000 acres already. Does anyone know if there is any chance of it reaching Estes Park? It looks uncomfortably close to the Mummy Range.

I would think it unlikely because the prevailing winds this time of year come from the west and southwest or from the north/northwest with cold fronts. Very sad, this fire is just getting started.

I summited uncompahgre this morning and while I didn't see the smoke, all the views from the summit (eastern & western san juans) were pretty hazy today. Crazy with all this fire danger right now and hopefully we'll get some moisture soon to help everything out.

I'd say theres no chance of it hitting Estes Park unless the wind shifts dramatically for an extended duration. It doesnt seem like the fire is moving west at all, in fact the sheriff said he wasn't to worried about Pingree Park despite it being pretty close by. I doubt it gets much closer to the Mummies

Here's some photos I took the past couple of days. I live in SE Fort Collins, and am now noticing a heavy smoky scent pervading my house.

Some really great pictures in this thread!

I've been up in the high park area many times. We've camped and 4wheeled near the Buckhorn and Crystal Mountain area many times. really hoping this doesn't make it all the way to the Poudre River because that valley is pretty awesome. But maybe it's just what was bound to happen with so much beetle kill.
