Altocumulus Standing Lenticularis

Post by FFLpilot »

The 'Mountain Wave' cloud, common around the Front Range both spring and fall. If you've never seen a time-lapse of such a cloud, you might not realize that the air within the cloud is usually moving very fast, even though the cloud is stationary.

Yesterday morning I captured 39 minutes of imagery that I compiled into a 14 second time-lapse.

If you want to see an additional close-up view of the lee side of the cloud (plus additional info on the genesis of these clouds), feel free to check out this blog post.
