Mike, the poster prior to you just indicated the Crested Butte area is just starting to show hints. Kebler will still be very much green. The earliest area to start turning on an annual basis is the eastern Sawatch--Leadville to Buena Vista, which usually looks pretty good around the 20th-22nd. I believe Breckenridge might be in the same boat, but have no first-hand experience there. If you want fall colors this weekend, head for the tundra across the state to get the golden-browns. Otherwise, the trees will go like clockwork starting at the tail end of the month.

I came over Kebler and Mclure passes yesterday.

Like the others said, aspens are just startings to show a little yellow.
Still pretty up there though.

Mike, if you are heading to Crested Butte from Albuquerque maybe you could let us know how the trees in northern New Mexico are looking? I know it's been extreme dry down there.....though I noticed some moisture in that region in recent days.

Evergreen - Echo Lake - Idhao Sprngs about 20% turned on Sept 18.
I think the peak will be the Oct 1 weekend.
