I am always surprised how well camouflaged ptarmigan are. Regardless of the time of year or region, they always seem to match their environments.
ImageThis isn't a great shot (screenshot from video) but compare to winter examples or other from this thread.

These little guys were born in my backyard yesterday. Their mom spent the day resting, feeding them, and cleaning them up. They're all dry and fluffy this morning - and not so wobbly.

I found this short horned lizard near Dinosaur, CO. Notice anything interesting about him?

This lizard is missing both of his lower legs, below the knee. Judging by the symmetry and lack of scars, I assumed that this was a birth defect. This is pretty amazing since a birth defect like this would usually result in a lizard quickly being eliminated from the gene pool. Yet, this little guy's deformities didn't prevent him from making it to adulthood.

These guys rely on camouflage and even the best runners aren't very quick. In fact, this guy wasn't a whole lot slower than his able bodied counterparts. Speed, apparently, is not really an issue for this species.

After 4 years of trying, I finally got a bobcat on my trail camera. This one is located near South Turkey Creek.
