Probably just end-of-holiday-weekend overload. CDOT says I-70 is moving 14 mph eastbound from Georgetown to Empire.

I had massive delays on I-70 leaving Herman Gulch this morning around 11 AM. Bumper-to-bumper traffic until the Idaho Springs tunnels. It may be a similar issue on 285 since it wasn't designed for so much traffic.

I thought 2 hrs from Fairplay was normal.

(sitting in Salida waiting for the traffic to die down...)

So glad I don't have to go to the mountains on the weekend.

Broke my number one, absolutely unbreakable rule today--climbed a 14er on a holiday-Bierstadt no less-it was for a friend's first fourteener, but I digress--discovered Frontage Rd. today--just never thought it would be worth it but I was buzzing by the standstill I-70 traffic-got on in Idaho Springs where it was a little slow until the tunnels but this was at 1230--I imagine it's pure hell by now.

construction on Kenosha Pass with ~15 minute delays when there's no traffic, full lane closure both ways at times. Same thing on some other passes like McClure.

I LOVE when they get a nice tail of about 15-20 cars piled up behind them and they REFUSE to pull over and let everyone go. I love being at their mercy.

HAH! See, you guys do drive slow in this state!

I learned that if you want to come home from the mountains you have two choices: 1) Leave at 10am and get home at 9pm 2) Leave at 7pm and get home at 9pm.

Can you blame the people for going up there though? :-D
