Chicago Lakes Camping - Mt. Evans

Postby jdesignedit » Sun Aug 25, 2013 9:48 am

I am looking to do some backcountry camping near the Chicago Lakes along the "Mt. Evans - West Ridge via Chicago Creek" trail route. Are their good spots near the upper or lower lake? (of course 100' or more from the water).

There is good camping around the lower lake. The upper lake is above treeline and in a bowl without many flat years suitable for camping where you would be 100 feet away from water.

There are a couple good spots in the cluster of trees between the upper and lower lakes. The sites are on the ridge and there is a trail off of the main trail that takes you to these spots. These spots are 100+ feet. There are other spots near the shore of the lower lake that are NOT 100 feet away but always are occupied...
