camping near North Cottonwood trail head?

Postby acoustic5679 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 5:11 pm

I wanted to bring my high clearance popup camper up to or near the North Cottonwood trail head when I attempt my columbia/harvard combo. Does anyone know if this forest service road has any good spots for a 18 foot camper?

About a quarter mile or so after you pass the San Isabel NF boundary, there is a very large site on the right-hand side of the road that should accomodate you. There are probably a few other sites further up the road too.

Several spots. You can camp at the trailhead itself. Its kind of noisy with cars coming and going all hours of the night. I set up near the steam to the west where the gurgling stream masks some of the noise.

A couple miles before the trailhead is the Harvard Lakes / Colorado Trail parking lot. There are some pull offs and camping just fore that. That happens to be the trailhead for the easy way up Columbia.
