Grays parking this time o' year?

Postby IHikeLikeAGirl » Tue Sep 11, 2012 2:15 pm

What are the odds that I will be able to park at the TH (this time of year), on a weekend, arriving at ~6a? If odds are not good, then (in general) how early do I need to arrive to get a spot?

Taking a young girl up to Grays and Torreys this Saturday and (despite the character building benefit) would prefer to not add another 3 mi RT to her hike....

I'd say the odds are real good that you'll find parking. This TR from last Sunday http://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=12847 says they found the last spot at 0630.

Agreed. Based on what I saw Sunday as long as you arrive before 7:15ish or after 11am you're probably good. There were only about 250 people on Grays / Torreys Sunday, so about half of the usual August crowd.

Ditto what Carl said. I did the Kelso Ridge route to Torreys on Sunday and had no problem parking 20 feet from the trailhead at 6:30.
