Mt. Massive: fishing on the east ridge side? Native Lake?

Postby krismarch » Thu Aug 09, 2012 8:48 am

All,

Some friends and I are hiking Mt. Massive this weekend via the East Ridge route. We start at the Native Lake trailhead. It looks like we pass several small bodies of water and and Native Lake.

Does anyone have any recent fishing experience here? Are the lakes stocked? Best bait to use? I've heard that Windsor Lake is a good fishing spot but it's not on our route.

Finally, what/where's the best source of information on fishing conditions in this area?

TIA,
Kris (Castle Rock)

Don't know about Native Lake, Notch Lake, or Three lakes, but Windsor Lake had pretty decent Cutts/Cutbows last year -- up to 14". Use a fly/bubble combo with either #14 BH nymphs (pheasant tail, hares ear, etc) or something small and black. Terrestials might work too -- hoppers, ants. I'd expect all the lakes up in that area behave about the same. Fish early and late. Good luck.
