Tim, did you see my earlier post on page 8 of this thread on how to contact Jeff Outhier, the local ranger in Westcliffe?

I would also be interested in contributing to a plaque or other memorial.

I could make either date for a memorial hike.

My husband and I are in for the June hike....

I am just now starting to post, still stunned from what has happened. This is truly the first I feel such a big loss for somebody I didn't even know in person.

My best wishes are with everybody on this site, specifically David's friends who had the chance to meet such a wonderful person.

If things work out right, my wife and I are in for the August hike. Will anyone be wearing pimp outfits in his honor!?

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the tremendous response from everyone who wants to attend and help organize the hikes.

It may be easier to keep track if everyone starts signing up on the climbing calendar:
http://www.14ers.com/calendar/index.php ... &year=2007

I was thinking along the lines of this plan:
We'll watch the snow levels and weather for the June climb and plan that as a more informal gathering for those who wish to attend.

We will have the plaque/memorial and plan for where to place it by the August 15th date. I was thinking we could have a more formal memorial service at the TH that morning and then hike up. That way if there are friends / family members who wish to attend but aren't capable of the summit climb, then they would be able to be a part of it too.

Jamie,
I think that would be a good idea. The snow may still be there in June, but some do prefer to climb in snow versus rock. Having the plaque placed in August is a good idea, that way we can work through the hassels and paperwork if that route is choosen.
I'll help in any way I can. I will definitely be on the climb in June and would like to attend the plaque ceremony too.
Thank you for the work you are doing on this. Let me know if there is anything you need assistance with.
The calendar isn't allowing sign ups yet, just email notifications.
Darryl

Thanks Darryl. I'll take look at the calendar & figure out what I did wrong...It's the first time I've ever used it! #-o

I have seen two different plaques on the summit of
Silverheels, nobody has carted them off.

I have, in the past, taken my best friends ashes
and spread them on Rito Alto Peak.

I was told this was illegal, somehow it still didn't
stop me......

I just updated the list on the climbing calendar. Let me know if I missed anyone, put anyone on the wrong date, etc.
Since it's my first time using it, I'm not 100% sure how the calendar works? Do I have to be the one to put people on the list or edit the list? or are others able to log in and sign up now?

Sorry..I'm kind of having a hard time getting it together this morning...
