I am not sure why he killed his dog on day 3.
Probably first reports were not very accurate.
He had 2 guns and fishing gear.
So he hunted and trapped for a month until he ran out of ammo.
Then he had a few more misadventures with his shelter, fire and injured ankle(?).
Some people are saying that killing a big dog with a stone is not that easy.
