Wow so saddened to hear of his passing. I have read and reread his TRs. My thoughts to his loved ones.

I had plans to climb Maroon with Terry, actually Terry and I had plans for him to guide me up Maroon last weekend. The pan was thwarted by bad weather. The last e-mails I exchanged with Terry ended with how important it was for hikers/climbers to invest in the COSAR card. This is a direct quote/copy of one of last few lines of his t e-mail:

I
f we do not make it to the top of the south ridge 3.5 hours after we reach the bent tree, I will turn us around. I have no intentions of putting you or Search & Rescue personnel in danger.

Speaking of Search & Rescue, please make sure you buy a CORSAR card. A 1-year card is $3: https://dola.colorado.gov/sar/orderInstructions.jsf

The CORSAR Card Is Not Insurance
The card is not insurance and does not reimburse individuals nor does it pay for medical transport. Medical transport includes helicopter flights or ground ambulance. If aircraft are used as a search vehicle, those costs are reimbursed by the fund. If the aircraft becomes a medical transport due to a medical emergency, the medical portion of the transport is not covered.

Terry

Terry was always safety first, his group and the search and rescue. Using this thread for the COSAR awareness. Lets flood the COSAR card purchases/renewal in honor of Terry. Something he always stressed before a hike with him.
Terry presence will be deeply missed.

Very sad to hear... I only knew Terry from his posts and TR's here, they were very descriptive and I had used them for my climbs. He always sounded so enthusiastic, hard to believe he's gone... RIP Terry.

I'm not sure I can add anything more that hasn't been said already...he was a great guy who always was willing to help other people out - a very admirable trait. And I'm glad to have had the opportunity to talk to him on several climbs and at some happy hour's. It is hard to believe he's gone.

Someone had inquired about Terry's trip reports and photos...

He removed them recently.

For those who don't know, his blog is still up, and while it doesn't offer everything his TRs did that he posted on 14ers, there is quite a bit of information on some of his more technical climbs, epic climbs, and his progression through climbing in general.

Terry's Obituary, the time for his Celebration Of Life Gathering is 7:30 PM 27 July 2013 Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, in the old chuck wagon/amphitheater near the main parking lot, .15 mile from the entrance on 30th St across from the Visitors Center.

Here's the link to a trip Terry, Abe(fireonthemountain), and I took to the Crestones in spring conditions. Terry used sound judgement that day, and didn't seem to mind when I went comotose for the entire ride back to Colorado Springs.

I have spent the last few days trying to absorb the shock of losing my friend Terry. While words could never describe how special he was, I created a trip report that talks about my time with him. Please click this link:

For all of Terry's 14'ers friends, Doggler, Brit, Anna, Jerry, Steve, Kiefer, Bill and many others I am forgetting, please know that Terry spoke of you often. I can only hope that I had as much impact on Terry's life as he did on mine.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

If it was Terry's TR, I can't put it back up since he chose to remove it.
