Earliests 14er to climb?

Postby mrfluffytoes1967 » Thu May 05, 2011 11:18 pm

I wonder which are the earliest 14ers to climb in the season. I'm not an ice climber and do not want too many snow fields.

Thank you very much for any help received

Anything with a trail that is located on the South face of a mountain usually melts out nicely by June 21. I did Uncompahgre around that time and didn't have very many problems with snow fields granted there were some. None of which were sizable. The Sangre de Cristos don't have much in snow this year from what I been told so those may melt out really early.
Bad decisions make good stories.

You can have snow fields well into July in a heavy snow year like this one.
I had a lot of snow on Democrat 6/19/2009 and Quandry 6/10/2010.
Those are feasable early mountains. If you hike them on Sunday,
the Saturday hikers will have broken trail for you. Ice in the morning,
slush in the PM.
