Rollins Pass/Moffat Tunnel snow conditions

Postby clemsonmtneer » Thu May 26, 2011 2:32 pm

Has anyone been up to this area recently? I'm thinking about skiing Radiobeacon Peak on Saturday, and since it looks like the east face is around 35 degrees or so, was hoping to get some beta on what snow conditions are like before heading up there (I know there's a ton of snow, thinking more in terms of avalanche danger).

Anyone have any info? I'd like to make it to Crater Lakes with my GF that is new to Colorado. I'm guessing there is still tons of snow on the trail?
Go get it

As of May 29, yep there was still a ton of snow up there. Continuous snow for skiing within a quarter mile of the East Portal TH. I'm sure it's melted off some since then, but I'd still expect there to be a lot of it (great for skiing, not so much for hiking). I wouldn't head up there without skis or snowshoes right now.
