Randonee Rentals

Postby JDgreen » Sun Dec 23, 2007 7:11 pm

Wondering if anyone in Estes rents Randonee gear? or if it could be rented in some of the Lift Served Ski area towns?
Looks interesting to me, I downhill skiied quite a bit when at College at U of Wyo and cross country on a regular basis but "can't telly". I have experienced backcountry people in Estes to take me or could try out the equipment in the relative safety of a lift served area. I followed the thread on buying the equipment, but am unsure until I actually try the stuff.

I'm not sure if anyone in Estes rents randonee gear, but you could take a quick detour to Boulder on your way to Estes. Neptunes Mountaineering rents randonee gear.

I've rented from Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder and Bent Gate in Golden. I'm sure there are others also.

I'd like to motion to retire the term "Randonee" in favor of "AT" / "Alpine Touring." An exception can be made, of course, for "Spandex-Clad Rando Racers."

Boulder is a little out of the way but I have shopped at Neptune. Thanks for the replies.

I am renting for the first time this week and here are the details I have:

Not is Estes, but Alpenglo (303.277.0133) in Golden rents AT gear. Here is what they typically charge per day:
Skis, boots, poles - $25
Skins, beacon, probe, shovel - $10 EACH item

Bent Gate (877.236.8428), also in Golden typically charges the following:
Skis, boots, poles, skins - $54
Beacon, probe, shovel package - $22
