Hi all, I'm new to the forum but am planning on doing the Lost Creek loop the week after Memorial Day. The latest snow had me considering a cancellation but from the sounds of it, should be passable by then? Thanks for the updates!

Thanks Derek, lots of great info, much appreciated. I'm loosely looking at Spruce Grove TH to South Tarryall Peak to Lake Park Peak to Tarryall Peak to camp at McCurdy Park. Next morning backtrack and grab 11762 and maybe McCurdy, return to camp and continue along possibly camping at Refrigerator Gulch, or continuing on depending on how day/time goes.

I'm looking to head up today to do the loop out of Goose Creek TH, I'll try to pass a message along through a friend to get posted here.

Per Greg: 90% of the trail from the Goose Creek TH to Hankins Pass has <2" of snow, and that goes up to ~8" near the pass. Snowshoes and microspikes not necessary, but gaiters are a must.

I appreciate the update Dan. I've still got a week and a half or so, so hopefully some warmer temps will knock down that 9 inches. Hope your hike was great!

Another update from Greg: Hankins Pass to Lake Park has four inches or fewer of new slushy snow. Lake Park has some old corn snow in places.

We started our big loop this morning on the Rolling Creek trail, from the Wellington Lake TH for the CT. No snow until the climbing really starts, then continuous snow after that. At first just the new stuff that fell last week, not a big deal. Above about 9000' it *completely* sucked. Knee to waist deep postholing all the way to the pass. I run this loop every May and I've never seen that much snow.

We were looking for a long trail run, and this postholing shite show wasn't it, so we called it a day there and finished out the day by running over in the Buffalo Creek area. The prospect of 4 more passes with that much snow (and the pass on the CT being higher and generally worse, historically) would have made for a 16-20 hour day. Yuck. Sorry I couldn't get any more beta for you all. Maybe in a few more weeks.

Mark is about 6'4":
