Vesslin Vlassev died from a broken neck, according to the Summit County Coroner.

The accident happened while Vlassev was skiing on the Jacques St. James intermediate trail.

The coroner says it appears Vlassev veered off the trail and struck the snow surface, resulting in the fatal injury.

He was found by a passing skier just off the groomed trail.

RIP and vibes to his family and friends.

It's been a bad year at the resorts; Winter Park, Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Steamboat, Silverton, Aspen. All that ice below the softness is still there and gets pushed off everyday. Looks like we are in for another round of warm dry weather to give us more crap conditions.

Found this looking around for avy info. I went skiing at Eldo on tues (24th) and spoke with the ski patrol person at the top of Corona run. I was asking about jumping from blk diamond to the double blacks and she recommended skiing with a partner (didn't have one) and even suggested having some sort of avy beacon as there had already been 2 inland avalanches at resorts.
Later that night at the pub the first thing on the tube was the skier that died at the resort. My concern grew. And now after reading this article (below) my concerns REALLY skyrocketed! Time to start bringing my beacon all the time.
