I like the idea of naming something after John Denver. When I knew I was moving here, people would mention skiing, the Broncos and John Denver. After moving here and falling love with the mountains, the lyrics in Rocky Mountain High spoke to me.
That said, it would be a hard sell to add a name to an already well known named mountain. The chance for success would be greater and opposition less with an unnamed peak.

Ian - i agree completely. It might a cliche song by now, but I still love it and get great meaning from it. Just reading those lyrics bring a lump to my throat....
I'd rather a peak be named for Hunter S. Thompson, he lived in the Aspen area longer than John Denver.
