Has anyone recently been in RMNP? I am wondering about snow conditions over there.
I am most interested in the following TH and trails:
1. Milner Pass to Mt. Ida
2. East Inlet to the lakes. What about Andrews and Ptarmigan?
3. Monarch lake to Crater lake.
4. Lake of Clouds.
5. Parika lake.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing better than mountains are mountains to which you have never been!

Re: Trails conditions in West RMNP
We are heading that way Friday and have been doing lots of checking- called the RMNP Backcounty office, the Sulpher Ranger HQ, etc. Milner Pass to Ida is ok. There's some snow at the pass and early on the trail, then it's clear. East Inlet is clear to Lone Pine Lake. Pretty iffy after that. There was an avalance near Slick Rock campsite, and the closer you get to Verna, the deeper the snow gets. They say 4 to 6 foot of snow at Verna. Not sure specifically about Crater, but I do know Arapaho Pass trail is ok "for a while" (that's what the ranger told me). Cascade Creek trail is ok to the falls, and Roaring Fork is ok till it splits to Watanga. The ranger said past those points it's doubtful. I had no luck getting info on Parika from either RMNP or the Sulpher Rangers. I do know the Colorado River is making things difficult getting to the Never Summers. Also, with all the snow, I doubt either Parika or Lake of the Clouds has had any traffic. Parika is one of our favorites and we are not attempting it. We also went to Lake of the Clouds and knowing the terrain, I don't think you'd have much luck.
I'm definately not an expert, just passing along the info I got from the rangers the past couple of days.
