FR 376

Post by cftbq »

Does anyone in the Colo. Spgs. or Cripple Creek area have any current data on the condition of Gold Camp Rd. for the first dozen-or-so miles east of Cripple Creek, or on FR 376 (the road to McHenry Reservoir)? I know El Paso Co. plowed Gold Camp west to the countyh line on Tuesday, but I'm trying to determine if the western part of the road, and FR 376, will be passable on Wednesday by a low-clearance vehicle. Thanks for any help.
I have been to the mountaintop, and I have seen the force
and the power that animates the universe. That may not
match up with your anthropomorphic or teleological idea of
what "god" is, but it's good enough for me.

was up there Sunday night -on a rescue call for a stranded jeep wrangler with 35 inch tires - New snow has fallen since last wednesday (pretty much snowed all day sat and sun) and the snow wasnt a problem for our suburban, but it did require 4wd on Gold Camp. We went up FR 381 and conditions were just below requiring chains. There have been people stranded up 376 overnight this year. if you go, leave an itinerary with someone back home and detailed plans of your wherebouts in case you become overdue :D

Thanks, tenpins. I was hoping that the recent sunshine might have rendered this section more easily passable, but it looks like it's still a bit sketchy. I think I'll come up with an alternative, lower altitude, plan for Wednesday.

no problem, I also wanted to mention that we were west of FR 379, not quite to FR376. We actually found the Jeep and occupants on 370G. Be safe.
