How was the snow on the North Star ridge or did you not go that far? Would like to head up there this weekend.*dustj wrote:I skied the Butter Knife this morning on Northstar and had a good view of Cristo. I counted at least 13 sets of tracks down it and the remnants of a recent slide (yesterday?) right down the middle. Sorry, no pics though.

northstar had so much snow on it yesterday (seen from lincoln) that it was almost hard to distinguish the butterknife. I'd say its in!

Re: Cristo Couloir
So how far up the road is passable?
Re: Cristo Couloir
I do have a couple of photos from the ridge on North Star. Just nothing of Quandary. It looks like typical early May in Colorado around here.

Re: Cristo Couloir
When I was there Tuesday, you could get pretty close to the gate on Blue Lakes Rd. From the gate up to the lakes was pretty covered with slide activity in various spots but there were tracks from a large vehicle that looked like it was moving snow trying to clear the road, maybe, which made for a "groomed" run down to my car. It only added maybe 10-15 minutes to get to Blue Lake.

Re: Cristo Couloir
Anyone know what the current conditions are on the Cristo Couloir?
We are stardust
Re: Cristo Couloir
Attempted it last weekend, we were knee deep in very soft, very wet snow. Get on it early before the sun bakes it.

Re: Cristo Couloir
Yes was curious if this route is still doable this year. Has anyone been on it or taken photos of it?
Thanks,
Jim
