Peak ID

Post by Kojones »

Howdy!

Can anybody help me identify the peak in the picture and where it was likely taken from? I have this photo in my desktop slideshow and is named as though I took it, but I can't pinpoint the location.

Guess would be looking south at Mt Ouray from Taylor or Aetena perhaps.

Certainly looks a lot like Ouray.

Looks like Mount Ouray from Aetena to me too.

Must be Ouray, because that's what I thought too. Although I was thinking it looks like this from the top of Monarch ski area.

Definitely Ouray with UN 13,472 just in front of it....my guess as to the location the picture was taken from, just looking at how they are lined up, is from either Shavano or possibly "Esprit Point"...just a guess though.
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

Here's Ouray from Shavano in summer 2005. Looks like a good match.

The rocks in the foreground close to the photographer look like a match too.

Thanks everybody! Seems it is Ouray from Shavano (haven't been on Aetena or to Monarch). It's a good match to the example picture as well.

Here's a pic a friend took of me from 2003 on Shavano's summit. While I think the view in this pic is obscured in clouds and Ouray would be more over my right shoulder, Look at the rocks off on the right side the pointy rock that's circled. Kinda matches up.
