Don't forget about Three Elk Creek route for Columbia, too. I did Harvard/Columbia traverse and then down Three Elk to a separate car last weekend and had a blast while avoiding the Columbia nastiness.

We'd considered an Elk Creek descent on our climb of Harvard in 2011, but deep snow en route to the summit of Harvard and an approaching thunderstorm prior to our traverse of Columbia changed our plans rather quickly. I'd also strongly considered taking the SE ridge up Columbia ... anything that would give a little more seclusion and fewer people :) - but if we're camping at Kroenke, that'd be a LONG walk back ...
