I did the Paiute Toll traverse a few years ago and really enjoyed it, amazing views of the western side from the summits. I swear as I was crossing the ridge between the peaks I heard someone playing bagpipes down by Blue Lakes :wft: Here are a few pics https://picasaweb.google.com/Heather1425/PaiuteTollTraverse09302011#

You can't go wrong in the IPW. All that have been mentioned provide for great days. Another would be Elk Tooth which offers some 3 class along its ridge, and you have the option for some class 4 if you continue onto Ogalalla.

All excellent suggestions, thank you all so very much!! I have plenty to digest and study and look over, but I always welcome more! :-D

I only wish I had more time to give them all a try!

Abe, I don't know if I'll feel THAT spunky! Ha! But thanks for the encouragement! I've done 20+ mile day hikes with 9000' gain in my past, but don't think I'm quite up for that anymore! :-D

Heather, perhaps you heard our good 14er member, Al (piper14er), warming up before his summit! But you were definitely in the high lands!

Most difficult thing is finding campground space on the east side if that is part of your plan. Everything seems to be always full in July and August. And permits required for backcountry camping. A little better change if you try on the Fraser Valley side.
