Sawatch yesterday in Pictures

Post by yorksman »

I hiked up Boulder Mountain yesterday with the intent of snapping some fourteeners. The peaks don't show a lot of snow but in the trees there's a fair bit, here's the pictures........and yes it was friggin windy, I was lucky to find a small ruin/shack just down from the summit for shelter.

Summiting is optional, getting down is mandatory.

Those are fine shots. Drove by the area Monday and noted the general lack of snow pretty much everywhere, except Wolf Creek Pass on US 160. Even there the accumulation was less than normal for this time of year.

Particularly I enjoyed the dramatic shot of Shavano and Tabeguache.

Thanks for these photos, it's great to see some high-quality condition photos (plus the beautiful scenery, of course ;) ).

We need a LOT more snow and a lot less wind.
