Oxford at age 13 in 1983. Wow - that seems so long ago.

But on a wild no-holds barred weekend in 2009, at the age of 47, I was seduced by, and lost my 14ers virginity to, Mt. Bierstadt, whom I subsequently learned has a reputation for being very easy (not to mention many people's first). Once the damn broke, I could no longer resist temptation, and in 4 short years I went from celibate to promiscous. I'm no Wilt Chamberlain, but I would guess that I've had 40+ 14ers since then, many of them repeats, and have even experimented with 2 at a time.

Of course, good Catholic that I am, I go to confession after each one, clean the slate . . . and then then I head back to the mountains.

Who knew talkin dirty about a mountain could be so much fun! Oh the places you could go...... [-X

28, Belford, I've gotten a lot better than that first time (it seemed to take forever).

58 (Elbert). Sigh...better late than never. But I'm on track to finish all 58 by the time I'm 92!

First attempt was at 28 on Elbert (in January). At 29 I was able to get Elbert in the summer.

First attempt was on Quandry in the winter right after I turned 18. Was on a "get the f**k out of town" trip to Breck because my dad had just died and I needed to get away. Made it to the last "step" on the east ridge and turned around since I hadn't eaten anything that morning. We didn't know we were going to head up...

That summer ('99) went to South Colony lakes and did Humbolt and Crestone Needle via the Arete... Nice way to tick #2! Since then, I've been trying to tick them off my list, but I have been having a bad run of luck over the last couple years. Probably 5 trips out there and only 2 summits.

Age 5 on Quandary: August 1995. I thank my dad for introducing me to the mountains all the time. We had just moved to Colorado and he couldn't wait to get his son into the mountains he loved!

I brought a buddy of mine up Little Bear back in August. I didn't find out it was his first 14er until we were at the Hourglass. He was glad we did the first gully in the dark, if he had seen how bad it was in the daylight he wouldn't have done it. He made it to the top, but said no once I started making my way along the LB-Blanca traverse. :-D
