Shavano/Antero conditions?

Postby PeteISU » Thu Jun 18, 2009 2:48 pm

Anyone climbed either of these 2 peaks recently? In from MN this weekend, was thinking about one of them. Never done any in the Sawatch range before, but will be in the Salida/BV area for the weekend. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Antero was almost completely dry last Saturday. Had to cross a couple minor snow fields on the last ridge, and the final scramble was a 400-foot snow climb to the summit, but no snow gear was needed.

Globreal, a guy from St. Louis, and I climbed Shavano this past Tuesday. Here is a link to Globreal's FTP site. He has all his pictures available to download.
