Found: Two-man tent, Longs Peak Trail

Postby Jim Davies » Wed Aug 22, 2012 8:04 am

Found a valuable piece of camping equipment on the Longs Peak Trail, probably dropped by someone hiking down from the Boulderfield on Sunday or earlier. Describe it to claim it and we'll figure out how to get it back to you.

How do you lose track of a tent on a hike? Or maybe it was just abandoned?
I need more dehydrogenase.

Theory: the tent could have been strapped to the outside of the pack, fell off while coming down the trail, and the climber did not hear because they were deafened from listening to their tent flap madly in the Boulder Field all night? #-o

Yes, must have fallen off on the way down. We saw the tent on the way up Tuesday morning, then talked to some backpackers who told us it had been there Monday also, which is why we felt comfortable taking it down ourselves.

Nice tent, the owner must be kind of PO'd to lose it. Anybody know someone who camped in the Boulderfield on Sunday?

You might let the Park's Backcountry Office know that you have this tent (970)-586-1242. That is
the normal Lost and Found location for the Park.

That didn't work. Any other ideas?

You opened it up and checked for names/phone number right? I have my name and phone somewhere on my more valuable gear, but it is not always up-front and center.
