Easy Snow Climbs

Postby joe4186 » Tue Jun 12, 2007 12:50 pm

So, i just purchased a pair of crampons and an ice axe. I was looking forward to get some snow climbs in this year. Besides Grays/Torreys, where can i go to get some good climbs in?? I was thinking Cristo on Quandry and maybe Missouri Mt.

I'm in pretty good shape and would like something simple, but fun.

Am i overshooting for Cristo and Missouri?

Christo should be fine. If you ski or do anything else to give you a good feeling for snow, the N. Face of Missouri should be fine. It's not all that steep -- it makes a great glissade!

My suggestion for other climbs would be Andrews and Tyndall Glaciers in RMNP. They're nice moderate climbs in beautiful settings that you won't have to hurry to get on, since they don't melt out.
