Alternative hikes near Durango

Postby amsinger » Fri May 18, 2007 6:02 am

I will be in durango May 26-30 and am tentatively planning to do redcloud/sunshine depending on the conditions. I haven't been a winter hiker so don't have the proper gear. If the conditions don't appear to be optimal (since i'm a newby) and/or i can't get the gear i need, i was wondering if anybody has any good suggestions of any alternative hiking in the area at lower elevations or any other interesting things to do in the area. I don't get out to colorado much, so i would hate to waste a trip if i don't have a good alternative if i can't climb a 14er. i appreciate any suggestions. \:D/
