Standard trail/route

Postby luv2hikejulie » Thu Apr 19, 2007 1:09 pm

Is there a standard or marked trail between the oxford/belford group going to harvard and columbia without coming all the way back down to a trail head. Or do most people route find the best way over? Thanks.

Planning a trip in August, may have a base camp and do the oxford group one day and back up to harvard/columbia the next. :?:

It would be best to return the same way on Belford/Oxford, then do Harvard/Columbia the next day from the south. You would have to lug your overnight gear with you over Belford/Oxford if you did it that way and descend all the way down to about 10,700 ft. You can access Harvard from the north via the South Pine Creek Trail, but it wouldn't be advantageous to do Columbia as well via this route unless you had a car shuttle setup. Have a fun trip!

Or you can have a base camp in Missouri Basin using the Pine Creek Trailhead. From there you can do Belford, Oxford, Missouri, Harvard and Columbia (though Columbia is long from this approach). Missouri Basin is fabulous and remote. Few people ever visit it.
