One year ago today Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner became the first woman to officially complete all 14 - 8000 meter peaks without oxygen or porters. She finished up by summiting one of the hardest and most dangerous mountains on the planet . . . . K2!!!

What a shame though, the controversy surrounding this race (as well as that other debacle on K2) - mountaineers should have honesty and integrity.
A HUGE congrats and tip of the cap to Gerlinde on a truly epic accomplishment.
You can touch the void, just don't fall into it.
I fly a starship across the universe divide....and when I reach the other side...I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can. Perhaps I may become a Mountain Man again.
