Fishing for pike in Alberta/BC

Post by steelfrog »

Howdy--this is sort of Rockies related--Canadian Rockies. I am taking the Boy up there in about 10 days or so and he wants to catch fish with teeth--to me that means Northern Pike. I don't want to spend $1,000 on a guide. Anyone have any suggestions as to either a cheap guide or where we could rent gear and where top fish for them?

I have identified Talbot Lake in Jasper as having them, but that's right on a highway and I'm sure gets lots of fishing pressure.

Other stuff we are doing is Akimina Ridge, Devil's Thumb, Yoho Alpine Circuit and Abbot Pass Hut, etc. Hope we get good weather!

Many thanks.
