Any specific plans down there Scott? I was going to head back to Ecuador, but airfare is crazy high. I never did Izta, but I heard it is a very pretty mountain.

If you have any generic itinerary and are looking for company on any routes, pm me. I was thinking to head down there around the 19th or 20th. Are you hut hiking or camping? I always get sketched out about get gear stolen in Mexico, since I had a bunch of stuff taken on Orizaba.

Follow.

Headed to Mexico City area for climbing during the Inauguration. Dates aren't certain yet.
I am unable to walk away from the mountain without climbing it. An unclimbed mountain tugs at my consciousness with the eternal weight of time itself. Until I've pressed my face into it's alpine winds, hugged it's ancient granite walls, and put it's weathered summit beneath my heal I'm unable to resist it's attraction.Knowing nature gives the mountain more time than she gives us adds urgency to the obsession. As has been said before; the mountain doesn't care.

It can wait forever. I cannot.

I do have a rough itinerary, but I'm out of the country right now, so it would be hard to send it.

We are bringing a tent for sure since the huts may be full that time of year.

Tentative plan says the following:

Iztaccihuatl (with acclimatization hikes) December 18-21
La Malinche (with travel time) December 22-23
Cofre de Perote (with travel time) December 24-25
Orizaba December 26-29
Aztec Pyramids and other sites December 30

Is a 4-season tent necessary or could one get by with a regular three season tent?

As an FYI, when timf and I were there back in January there was plenty of room in Piedra Grande Hut.
