Name the peaks : Cottonwood Pass

Postby herdbull » Sun Sep 08, 2013 3:00 pm

Anyone know all the peaks in this photo? If so could you please name them or if there's a photo like this already floating around please post it. Just curious as to what's what in this pic. It was taken last weekend from Cottonwood Pass on my short and sweet visit to Colorado.

L-R: West Apostle, Ice Mountain, North Apostle, and several unnamed 13ers south of Huron Peak.

This is the view of the 3 Apostles from the other side:

And this is a more bird's eye view from La Plata Peak:

My experience viewing the Apostles el. al. is from Cottonwood Pass. Thanks ACERyguy007 for the impressive additional perpectives. The Sawatch truly has some fine views.

Dead center west apostle, to right ice mountain and north apostle, with huron peak just over North's flank on the right. beyond that , can't help. you've got my curiosity up now.

"It's called CRAZY. And somehow, when you are bent over your poles, staring at your boots- heart heaving and trying not to cough your lung onto a rock= you look up...and you are looking down over all those beautiful mountains....and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

Here is your photo labeled, and yes, you can also see Huron just peeking out over North Apostle's shoulder.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch. That is kinda what I suspected when standing there and was hoping to catch a glimpse of Bel/Ox/Mizz but that's alright. I was a little preoccupied at the time anyway. A quick little jaunt up the knob to the right would have been well worth it.

Editors note: preoccupiedness brought to you by Pizza Works :-D
