Off topic: engagement hike

Postby Swampy » Wed Dec 12, 2012 1:20 pm

So I'm trying to help a buddy that loves outside CO plan a hike where he can propose. I was wondering if there are some good locations in the front range?

I proposed to my wife on top of Mt. Sherman. It worked out well because there was great cell phone reception at the summit so she could call her mom and send pictures.

Nothing brings on the romance like the Kissing Camels of Mt Sneffles.

Not Front Range, but I proposed on top of Elbert. Made a TR for it too. :D

One thing I would put out there... do you want crowds? When I proposed there were maybe 20 people on the summit and the second I dropped to a knee, I had a lot of attention. Some of the other Front Range peaks could be packed!

My fiance proposed on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. We did the Loch Vale hike from Glacier Gorge TH. He proposed at the Loch. It's a gorgeous area!

No, there are no good locations for this. Tell him to try Kansas.
Does he want views, lakes, waterfalls, cliffs, pinnacles? How far does he want to hike? What time of year? This is like going into a bar and asking the crowd "Is there anything good to drink here?" :)
Some people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of white blood cells.

I highly recommend somewhere next to a couple thousand foot-high cliff, with a deep chasm located immediately below. It makes it much simpler of a choice for the lucky lady. Worked well for me 13 years ago...

I just did it at the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse near Leadville and it was one of the best nights of my life. Honestly, I would do it there everyday if I could experience that night over and over again.
