Backdated Trip Reports

Postby Derek » Tue May 22, 2012 7:15 am

So at the end of the crazyness from last weeks shutdown of 14erworld, there were quite a few members who said they would be moving some of their old reports over here rather than let them just get lost. Thanks to a change provided by Bill, we are now all able to post these old reports without clogging up the trip reports section with old reports! (Thanks Bill.)

Since I am sure that some of people here would like to see some of the old reports that are being added, especially those who were not 14erworld members, I figured we could just add this as a running thread for any backdated reports we add. (After seeing Tom Pierces trip report on Castle, I'm REALLY hoping that he decides to bring his old ones over...hint hint...and I believe Furthermore mentioned he had a lot of old 13er reports he was thinking of adding?..hint hint again... :) )

Anyway, figured I would start it with some reports I have been (slowly) transferring over. I'm really hoping others bring theirs over too before they're lost...

Yeah I posted an old report that is entirely new. Peak 11, Jupiter, Aztec and the 14ers in Chicago Basin. First beta in the 14er data base for Peak 11 and Aztec. Peak 11 is amazing still one of my favorites. Working on others as well.

Derek - BTW, I really appreciate all of these trip reports on LCW, etc. I know they will become handy when my 13er binge is over.

Derek, you probably envision this thread being a running list of back-dated TRs, rather than comments on any particular trip or subject. So my apologies in advance. All of the reports that you linked are excellent. They belong on the front page of the TR forum to receive the exposure that they deserve. I don't believe in delinquent reports. I think any outside pressure to keep back-dated reports off the front-page of the TR forum is bunk. If a person doesn't want to read a belated report, then keep on moving. Not all of us have time or energy to come home and write a report and post it within a few days time. With that said...

I want to bring exposure to the Cooper, Marten, Martenette report. I know folks are making summer plans. If you like exciting scrambles in a sublime setting with breathtaking views, then put that combo at the top of your list. The peaks don't rise above the 13K barrier but they still have a ton of joy to give.

I took 1200 photos on that Cooper/Marten trip. I have many to post. Derek, if you don't mind, I'd like to add my photos to the comments section on your report over the next week or so. It was a sublime trip, in my top 5 favorite backcountry trips. Gourd Lake is unreal. It's a place that any wilderness and mountain lover should visit.

I can't help but post of few pics from the Cooper/Marten trip here. Again, my apologies, but your post brought back some good memories. it really was a special trip, and one well-worth sharing:

Thanks again for the beta on 11 for my trip a few years ago. That one is in my TR but I included different mountains for my "5", any headway on linking more than 5 peaks to a single TR?

I agree with this. I'd rather see new trip reports by the date they're added rather than have them sorted chronologically by climb date. Especially as the site sees a bit of an influx from 14erworld posters old reports.

Kimo, feel free to add as many photos as you would like. (Maybe we can talk and you can just add them into the report?)

I suppose thats true. I just didn't think people would want the clutter.

Added my Cirque/Emma Trip. One of the best days of climbing for me.
