What "treasures" did you find while hiking?

Postby boleslav » Sat Feb 14, 2009 3:05 pm

It's amazing what people can loose, on our hiking trips we found many hats, gloves, flashlight, even a tent and large backpack...
What did you find over the years?

I hope you didn't steal somebodys stuff while they were out from camp.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "HOLY s**t!!...WHAT A HELL OF A RIDE!!!!"

I had the same thought.

Wonder how many people pick up stowed snowshoes thinking they are lost??? As for the original question, I have found a few items, but nothing major. The best was a $20.00 bill. Didn't think it would be useful to post "Lost: $20.00 bill" so I purchased a beer on the loser. :D

A beer for $20? Wow, and I thought I had expensive taste when it came to my beer. What did you get?
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

The tent was found separately from the backpack on different trips, we found the pack while returning from several days backpacking trip, were loaded and the pack was sitting on the log, buckled on it, with several holes from the critters. We left it there.

Once I found a MSR waterworks filter on the trail of West Spanish peak. I left a note on the stump where I found it, in case anyone came back to look for it. I wonder too how many snowshoes that have been cached end up being "found"
I cleaned out my closet in the spare bedroom and found a nice fleece jacket. I had no idea that I had a spare fleece #-o

Found a hat but nothing more exciting. Been more on the other side of the situation. Lost a tent on Kit Carson. Hard to fathom how you can loose a tent but it is a long story.

Lots of rock gear on Longs

Once "lost" brand new hiking poles...got into a jam and had to put them down to climb out....couldn't get back to them.
