Kelso Ridge Route. Too spooky for me at this time. Maybe next year. (September 2012)

Not as Spooky as you think.     2012-09-13 06:45:43
I had looked at that ridge for something like 40 years - thinking it would be impossible for me. But I did it on Sunday 09Sep2012 and absolutely had a ball. Tough spots, yes. Exposure, yes. Fun, YES! If you ever decide you want to give it a go, I would be happy to lead. All you need is good weather and the confidence in yourself to do it. --Jay

You Conquered it!     2012-09-13 09:52:08
That‘s awesome Jay521! Congratulations. Yes, thank you, I‘d like to have someone who has done this ridge guide me to the summit. Would you call it class 3? Exposure can get into my head sometimes. I need to be more mindful of my pack weight and also to tighten up my pack on those stretches. If I‘m scrambling with exposure and that pack moves, effecting my balance, I freak a little bit.

No problem...     2012-09-13 14:47:27
I would be happy to oblige anytime. I really enjoyed that route and would do it again in a heartbeat. I always had a difficult time telling the difference between class 3 and class 4 but the guy who led me on this on Sunday said there were a couple class 4 ”options” - one of which we took. But it didn‘t seem all that much harder than anything else. There is definitely some exposure and you might want to do the east ridge of Father Dyer Peak as a nice warm up for the Kelso Ridge.
