 Cross

I don't need to tell anyone about the unseasonable weather. Thursday was going to be the short weather window, and a couple friends who had been wanting to get Holy Cross the last couple years had the same idea. I rented two powder sleds, and the group settled to six people. By the time we were half way up Tigiwan Road we were in 1-2 feet of powder.

We skinned up to half moon pass and had excellent powder skiing into cross creek. We summited around 2:00pm. Dense powder for the first 100-200 feet, another 100-200 feet of slab crust. At the choke a wind pocket with a 1' crown and about 20'x20' released and ran down. Conditions from there down were excellent.

Ample evidence of the record snow year in the Vail area in those photos. Glad you were in and out safely.

of the Gores. Nice work on a monster-esque day. Definately found a window in the weather last week.
