“Sneva Peak” Afternoon + Rockpile Morning = FUN

Ah the weather. Colorado is famous for its weather. Some days this is great and others not so much. I arrived at Darrell’s at 7am to go for the North Chute of Peak 1. This day the weather wasn’t having any of it. Very high winds aloft were creating a very cloudy situation. We decided to go ski slackcountry at A-Basin instead. 1st we tried to head up Chihuahua but 90 mph gusts and 40+ sustained winds hammered us and we decided that the trees on the other side of the area were a better way to go. A nice lap ensued.

After our Rockpile lap the weather seemed to be mellowing out so me and Skylar headed up Vail Pass. We left a car at Officers Gulch and kept going to the pass where we started a tour up “Sneva Peak”. This unnamed peak is on the east side of Uneva Pass and offers stunning views of the Tenmile Canyon lines. After snapping some pics we skied mixed conditions down to tree line.... more words and pics at makingturns.com
