Quite the approach... an additional 6.2 miles and ~1000 feet. Skis are nice to have for the descent...

So many epic tales on Shavano...     2011-02-15 12:22:36
but your knuckle cracking just ruined all of them. I am forever banning Shavano and all sounds that haunt those woods.

S&T put me at 20, b/w this season and last. I'm hoping for 24 by mid-March. Half the Sangre down. But all the Elks, Wilson group, and Chicago Basin left to go. Surely, old age and degenerative disease will outpace the exponentially increasing difficulty of the remaining winter 14ers.

Still, it makes winter go fast, doesn't it.

Yeah, I was wondering how the skiing was the day before. Some of that crust was murder. Judging from your tracks, you handled it with style!

That moonlight was sweet, no?

Thanks...     2011-02-16 13:34:40
Only 35 to go . You must be in the 20s too, no? My ski over breakable crust through the aspens was a sight to see. I was happy to make it down unhurt. The last 3+ miles of moonlight skiing were awesome though.

Some nice ski tracks there, Mr. Manley     2011-02-16 08:30:07
Interesting...I saw your name on the register yesterday and figured those were your ski tracks!

Congrats on #22 and #23 calendar winter 14er ascents!

PS - I was a little envious to hear the last 3+ miles from the summer TH went in 30 minutes - it seemed to take forever slogging on snowshoes, though the moonlight was a small consolation.
