MT Elbert - NE Ridge is snowy!

Climbed Mt Elbert on Saturday 09 October. There were quite a few people on the trail but many bailed near the false summit.

There is about 1.5 ft of snow above 12,000 ft in places and was fairly challenging to climb through.
The winds were very high. I estimate about 60 mph. That is what made many turn back at the false summit where the winds were the highest and knocking people over.
It took 4.5 hrs for me to summit due to the snowy and windy conditions.

Snowshoes might be helpful at this point in the season. Sorry I don't have many photos to share!
It was too cold to stop and take them!

Happy climbing!!!

Hey I was climbing Elbert the same day south route. Yes, it was a nasty wind and 2 ft of snow in some areas. I took a photo from the south route and I saw a lot of people heading down, someone told me that group was a climbing school.
