 Daughter/Father quality time

After hitting the snooze buttone 2 or 3 times I finally got up Saturday morning and got all my gear ready. After picking up my daughter and getting some breakfast we headed over to Idaho Springs Mt Evans Road. When we got there the parking lot was almost full. I had decided that since I had my 2 year old with me I would only do the 3 mile route.

Turn off to the trail

Starting the day

The challange for the day. I was really not thinking i would be so sore the next day. But between the baby, water, etc I think i was pulling about 45-50lbs up that trail. Ohh got 3 blisters too.... lol

Looking back half way up

Our 1st stop for a snack

Really no surprise to me because she always falls asleep, but it always cracks me up to hear her snoring while im huffing and puffing up a trail.......... hahahaha

Finally made it to the top parking lot. After a quick rest we headed to summit. We got to see some mountain goats. Melissa really enjoued that.

Last strech to the top

At the top

Of course we pulled out our Guatemala flag

The Marker

We did not stay at the top for very long. Melissa was not liking the wind in her face. So after a couple of pics we headed back down. I felt it would be safer if we just went down the mountain thru the road instead then the loose gravel.

the views were still awesome

Even though it was easier to walk on pavement on my knees, I did get 3 blisters..... UGHH

Back at Summit lake

That is so cool that you spend that kind of time with your little girl! She grows up much more and I think carrying her on your back may be out of the question, huh? That picture of her asleep literally made me LOL! That is a shot that you can show her friends when she is a teenager...I am sure she will appreciate that! Good job!

Ohhh yes, she is getting way to big for that carrier. I think this is the last summer she gets to use it. She does tell me she likes to go hiking but she didnt like the wind at the summit. I think she'll catch the bug next summer.

Nice TR and sweet pictures! I remember hiking down Harney Peak in South Dakota with my son sleeping on my back.... I didn't have him in a pack!
