Sunset from the summit of Eolus

Over Labor Day Weekend my wife Kristi and I drove seven hours to Durango... took a two hour train ride to Needleton and hiked seven miles into Chicago Basin. After setting up camp we climbed Eolus and North Eolus and watched an amazing sunset from their summits.

The next day we climbed Sunlight and Windom Peaks.

We hiked back to Needleton on the third day... took the train to Silverton for lunch and then headed back to Denver.

Chicago Basin is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been.

alex: Thanks for sharing your shots from this spectacular adventure! You couldn't have asked for better weather. Nice job in nabbing all three Needle 14ers in a single bound. Keep the faith, and keep on climbing...
