Wow, what a great climb. Not my fave but close. I guess maybe because this was my first in the Sawatch range the newness was what made it so special for me. I can't believe how much water there is in that wilderness! There were more species of mushrooms there then I've ever seen in one place in Colorado. Since I didn't make it to the TH (from Denver) until 7:45 I was too late for the frogs, or WAY too early depending on how you look at it. The views from the "shoulder" out of the treeline were gorgeous. That 750' grind IS a grind but it felt good. The soft forest floor was heaven on the feet after coming down the mountain.
It's funny, but a shame, that someone glued (even Liquid Nailed) the Dartmouth sign to a rock on the summit. This is the 2nd mountain in a row where I couldn't find the USGS marker. Lots of 14ers.com readers on the summit which is always fun. And lastly, I heard talk on the summit of alumni of Harvard and Yale engaging in "rock stacking" on their respective mountains in an effort to make one "school" taller than the other. Seriously?
